The
Story

Mayyanad Sri Bhuvaneswaridevi Temple embodies the deity named Bhuvaneswaridevi - whose concept was thought to descend through the years since the 18th century. As the story goes, some fabric merchants in the 18th century brought this notion with them, and characterized it as their 'Aradhanamoorthy'. Its temple was originally in the form of a Kavu (A traditional name given for sacred groves across the Malabar Coast in Kerala). This legacy was then passed on to the reputable Konnayil family situated in Mayyanad, Kollam. The temple was constructed by astrologer Sri. Edavattom Parameswaramenon and the temple committee after prolonged endeavors. The atonement procedures for the reestablishment of the statuette (punaprathishtta) was undertaken by Thanthri Brahmasri Govindan Namboothiri (Horakkatt Illam). The active presence of the Konnayil family members throughout the course of this journey has also helped in the successful establishment of the temple.

28 years after the punaprathishtta, astrologer Sri. Nooranad Sreekumar carried out a ritual to cognize the will of the residing deity (devapreshnam). As per the will, a beautiful shrine for Sri Bhuvaneswaridevi and Sri Maha Ganapathy was constructed by Sthapathi Navaikulam Sri. N. P. Kurup.

On April 11th, 2016  (1191 meenam 29, Star-Rohini ) Prathishtta karmam was done by Neduvathoor Muriyamangalathu Brahmasri. P. Sreevalsasharma ( Former Sabarimala Malikappuram Melsanthi ).
